Colorbond fence painting in Sydney
Bring a whole boundary or strata fence line into a consistent colour without replacing sound steel panels. We assess coating condition, access to each side and garden protection before quoting.

Who is whole-boundary fence painting for?
Whole-boundary fence painting suits strata properties, larger residential sites and owners seeking a consistent perimeter colour. Suitable Colorbond and other steel fences can be assessed for an onsite coating refresh. We look at panels, posts and rails as a complete scope rather than treating each faded patch in isolation.
Colorbond is a BlueScope trademark. Electrocoat does not claim affiliation with BlueScope. Existing steel fencing can have different factory finishes and repair histories, so the product name alone does not establish which preparation or coating system is suitable for your particular fence.
How is a steel fence prepared for painting?
We inspect the existing coating, clean the surface and prepare suitable steel before applying the specified finish. Adhesion and corrosion checks help distinguish ordinary fading from areas that need more work. Electrostatic application uses charged liquid paint, not replacement factory powder coating.
Garden beds, paths, walls and nearby vehicles need protection during preparation and spraying. Dense planting can limit access to the lower rails and panel faces. We discuss how vegetation will be managed before work, including which items the owner or gardener should move rather than assuming plants can be cut back.
How long does a boundary fence project take?
The programme depends on boundary length, condition, access and whether one or both sides are included. A strata perimeter may need staged work around entrances, bin areas and residents' courtyards. Weather and the coating system affect the sequence and return to normal use.
We agree a practical order of work so protected garden beds and access paths are not disrupted unnecessarily. Tell us about watering schedules, pets and regular grounds maintenance before dates are set. Keeping these activities away from active preparation and fresh coating helps avoid contamination and unnecessary rework.
How long will the finish hold up?
Performance depends on the condition of the steel, preparation and exposure to moisture or salt. Panels close to soil, irrigation and dense planting may face more persistent dampness than exposed upper areas. A new colour cannot stop corrosion that has not been properly assessed.
We identify visible deterioration and discuss preparation or replacement where needed. After coating, keep soil and mulch from building against the fence and follow appropriate cleaning advice. Maintenance access matters along the full boundary, particularly where gardens make it difficult to inspect lower rails or notice early damage.
What affects fence painting costs?
Boundary length, fence height, access and the amount of surface repair drive the quote. Coating both sides is a different scope from coating only the inward-facing panels. A major colour change may require more coats than a same-colour refresh.
Other factors include plant protection, tight passages, stepped ground and coordinating entry to several lots. For strata comparisons, request a clear schedule identifying panels, rails, posts, faces and exclusions. That makes it easier to compare quotes on the same basis instead of choosing between different assumptions about the boundary.
When should a fence be replaced instead?
Replacement may be more suitable where panels are perforated, posts are unstable or rails no longer support the fence properly. Respraying is an appearance treatment for a suitable existing structure, not a substitute for structural repairs. Any safety concerns should be resolved before coating.
Where deterioration is localised, ask whether repair or selected replacement should happen before the remaining fence is painted. New and retained sections may need different preparation. A coordinated scope can address the visual mismatch without suggesting that paint alone will restore severely corroded steel or damaged supports.
Do neighbours need to agree to the work?
Shared boundary work may require neighbour consent or other approval, depending on ownership, the proposed work and applicable requirements. Confirm this before committing to a colour change or arranging access from the adjoining property. We cannot authorise work on someone else's side of a fence.
For strata boundaries, check who can approve the scope through the owners corporation and whether adjoining owners need consultation. Record which faces will be coated and how garden protection will be handled on each property. Clear access arrangements help avoid a crew arriving with permission for only part of the intended work.
Preparation & application
How your respray comes together
Map the boundary
Identify fence sections, ownership, access and corrosion, then confirm the faces and components included in the quote.
Protect the landscape
Agree plant and irrigation arrangements, protect adjacent surfaces and prepare the steel for the selected coating system.
Complete agreed stages
Coat the approved sections in a planned order, review the finish and explain cleaning and garden clearance needs.

These gates and custom balustrades in Bellevue Hill were finished in textured Linseed. They are not Colorbond fence panels; steel sheet fencing needs its own condition and adhesion assessment.

Questions
Colorbond fence painting Sydney: your questions answered
Can you paint just our side of the fence?
That may be possible if ownership, permissions and access allow it. The quote should clearly identify the included faces and how neighbouring surfaces will be protected.
Can an old fence match new panels?
We can assess a colour reference, but ageing, texture and gloss can affect the match. Agree the intended result after the retained and replacement sections have been inspected.
Will my garden be protected?
Garden protection forms part of the access plan. Fragile planting, irrigation and restricted spaces should be identified early, with any required garden work agreed before coating starts.
What are the warranty terms?
Our written warranty terms are confirmed in your quote. Ask how pre-existing corrosion, irrigation exposure and ongoing care affect the proposed scope and its exclusions.
