Eastern Suburbs, Sydney
Salt-air metalwork, made new again.
Window frames, balustrades and gates in the Eastern Suburbs take a beating from the harbour and the ocean. We respray them on site, colour-matched to the home.
Why Eastern Suburbs finishes fail early
Between the harbour on one side and the Pacific on the other, very few Eastern Suburbs homes are far from salt. Wind off the water leaves a fine salt film on every exposed surface, and on aluminium frames and steel balustrades it gets into any scratch, chip or worn edge. Over time that shows up as dull, chalky frames and bubbling or rust-marked balustrades, usually worst on the side facing the water.
Full sun on north- and west-facing elevations does the rest. It's common for us to see a house where the street-facing windows still look reasonable but the frames facing the view have lost most of their colour. Replacing those frames means re-glazing and making good around every opening. Respraying them means the house keeps its windows and gets a new finish.
Luxury homes, heritage homes and strata blocks
Much of our Eastern Suburbs work is on high-end homes where the finish has to be precise. Architect-designed houses often use a specific metallic or a colour that ties the gates, balustrades and window frames together. Heritage and older character homes need a colour that suits the period. In both cases we colour-match on site and test before we spray, so the result sits naturally with the stone, render and timber around it.
The other half is strata. Apartment blocks from Bondi to Double Bay commonly have aluminium windows and balustrades that are all ageing at once. We work floor by floor so residents stay home, and give the committee an itemised scope they can table at a meeting.
Real Eastern Suburbs projects
In Rose Bay we finished entry surrounds in Burnished Copper, a warm metallic that gives the front of the home real presence. In Bellevue Hill we coated the gates and custom balustrades in a textured Linseed, so the whole frontage reads as one piece. Both were done on site, with no metalwork removed.

Questions
Eastern Suburbs: your questions answered
Will the finish hold up this close to the ocean?
We use a hard-wearing system built for Australian conditions, including coastal exposure. Thorough cleaning to remove salt, plus the right primer, is what makes it last, and that's where most of our time goes.
Can you match a custom metallic on an architect-designed home?
Yes. We colour-match on site from a sample or the existing finish, including metallics like the Burnished Copper we used in Rose Bay.
Do you work on Eastern Suburbs strata buildings?
Yes. We respray windows and balustrades on strata buildings floor by floor, with residents staying home.
Can you coat gates, balustrades and windows in one job?
Yes, and it's often the best result, because everything is finished in the same colour and gloss at the same time, like our Bellevue Hill gates and balustrades.
